Standing & ranks

Your standing is one number: every building level you hold, summed across every plot. It maps to eight ranks, and it is public — it is the badge other players see on your dossier and in the register.

Why levels and not money

Standing deliberately measures what you built, not what you brought. Portfolio value is a separate figure — it is what raids are matched on and what a guild scores — and conflating the two would make standing a leaderboard of deposits.

Levels cannot be bought outright: each one burns SCRIP you had to produce and the materials of every earlier industry, and takes real time. So a high rank says somebody has been playing, which is exactly what a public badge should say.

What it tells you about somebody else

• A high rank with thin walls is the most interesting target on the board: they have been building rather than defending, which means a full store and a lot of levels behind one gate.
• A low rank with a large portfolio is someone who deposited recently and has not built. They cannot attack you — the build-depth floor needs level 3 — and they may still be inside new-account immunity.
• Your own rank against theirs tells you nothing about whether you can raid them. That is decided by portfolio value, not by standing.

On-chain

buildings.standingOf(you) returns your total, your rank index, and the threshold for the next rank in one read. buildings.rankLadder() returns the whole ladder, so the interface never hardcodes the thresholds — and neither does this page.

The thresholds are owner-settable. They were tuned so that the first few rungs land inside the opening week for everybody rather than sitting empty for a month. What a level costs.
